Japan Through the Lens is a three-part visual series filmed across Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka during our January 2025 journey as Sigma Creators. Created in collaboration with Sigma for the launch of their new brand image, the project explores Japan through movement, light, and everyday moments, using both Full Frame and APS-C lenses to translate the rhythm of the country into cinematic storytelling.
The project consists of three short films that were released in collaboration with Sigma as part of the launch of the brand’s new visual identity. Each chapter explores a different perspective on Japan, using visual storytelling to reflect the rhythm, culture, and atmosphere of the country.

The story
Japan Through the Lens is a visual series created during our January 2025 journey across Japan as Sigma Creators. The project explores the deep relationship between photography and everyday life in the Land of the Rising Sun, where capturing moments is not limited to professionals but embraced across generations.
From the vibrant crossings of Tokyo to the quiet streets of Kyoto and the electric atmosphere of Osaka, the series observes how movement, tradition, and modern life coexist within the same frame. Each episode focuses on a different visual theme, translating the rhythm of Japan into cinematic imagery.
Throughout the project we worked with a selection of Sigma Full Frame and APS C lenses, exploring different perspectives, scales, and emotional distances within the same environment. Wide lenses revealed the scale and energy of the city, while longer focal lengths allowed us to isolate fleeting human moments within the crowd.
Subtle interaction.
The result is a collection of visual chapters that reflect not only the landscapes of Japan, but also the subtle interaction between people, light, and time.
Japan Through the Lens is ultimately about observation. It is about pausing within movement and discovering the extraordinary hidden in everyday moment
